    Original Rear Fog Light

I bought a rear fog light that was listed here as an original Hella and it did indeed come in an original box with instructions. I paid $225.00 for it as I recall. I was just looking around the Sierra Madre website and they appear to have exactly the same light for $51.53 that they refer to as a "Rear 3rd Brake Light":

    Here's the one I have:

And here's the light they're offering:

    Same light??

    Thanks,

    Hello John,
I sold you that light and it is not the same as the current hella productions.
If you look carefully at the lens of the light that Sierra Madre sells, you will see that it has a scharp edge in it, where the one I sold you is smooth and rounded. The back case might look the same, but it will most probably have a regular tungsten bulb in it and not the tube bulp that yours has.
It will probaby look like this on the inside. Also a picture of the newer fog from a different angle, you van see the sharp edge and the more flat lens.

Here is a good thread about foglights:

Thank you. Now those are *subtle* differences! I think my originality disease has hit a new high. Low?

This is one of the ultimate originality show-off parts:

Observer at a Porsche show, "What a beautiful 911S!"

Smart-ass me, "Yeah. Too bad the rear fog light is a repro."

    Cheers,

    That's hysterical.

Tim Morris, proprietor of German Master Tech that does high-end restorations of longhoods, had a private tour of the Porsche museum conducted by the director. Tim and I had come up with a list of questions regarding originality for him to ask them. When I asked him what he had found out he said he found out that we knew more than they did.

I don't think they place a heavy emphasis on the vintage cars.
