    Oldest US delivery targa

Any ideas what the oldest US-delivery targa is? Did the first targas all get delivered to Germany?

According to Aichele, most likely the oldest 911 Targa has chassis No. 500 001.
    Owned now by Mr.Giesdorf, Germany

    Here is a pic of 500 001

I own 500008. Obviously pre-production and Euro but still trying to figure out when Patient Zero hit the states.

(I would change the title to "oldest US delivery 911 Targa".)

Frank, I had some time for some research. First to hit USA was 500005 after it was owned by the factory, 2nd was your car, which was also first owned by the factory (both cars went to the same guy).

500001 went to VW HQ in Wolfsburg, 002 was destroyed and 0004 went to the Dutch police. Interesting that 500007 was an 'S'.

    Tomas L. has '06.

sorry, 006 was the first S SWT, not 007.

If we get REALLY technical here, and if that is allowed on this board, 500018 was the first 911 targa that went straight to the US. 31.01.67. 005 and 008 did not make it across the pond until July of that year, but maybe this is all speculation, maybe not.

Where are all of the early Targas? You rarely see one in the 5000xx range.

Without getting technical was there an 007?
