Here are a couple of more attachments on my 500 010: I missed the page from the maintenance book with Dr. porsche's name and am including a picture of the instruments.

The wheels carry 904 Part numbers.

Pics of the Targa bar base mouldings? Targa bar interior shot showing where the rear window tensioning handles normally are?

    Thanks.

My 904 wheels carry part No. 25205 4-1/2-15

I believe that the rear window tensioners are where the rest of the Targas have them, but I can take pictures, if you need them.

What other info/pictures do you need? Remember -- these early pre-production cars were strictly custom-built in the Porsche Custom Shop and may be one-off examples.

I have not seen any other hubcaps like the ones that came on the car. i had three, but one came off about a month ago, while I was driving.

I have put about 190,000 (210,000 total) miles on it, including one engine overhaul (with stock 2-liter parts) and about four transmission overhauls/repairs. In one case the main shaft broke, but I could still drive the cat. The thrust bearing (a ball-bearing) wore out twice; the limited-slip differential suffered a cracked casting, necessitating going to a standard differential, for which I wish to find a replacement.

    Lol

    Tear gas.

    I love spell check.

008 doesn't have tensioning mechanisms. It would not surprise me at all that the good doctor's car would be the first to have these.

Good stuff. We're narrowing down important changes.
    Many thanks for engaging us.

    Frank,

Yes, the chell speaker is a great app to have.

I would be surprised if your car doesn't have rear window tensioners. If it does, their hard points in the roll bar sit about directly behind the driver's left shoulder and behind the passenger's left shoulder and are about 30 inches apart. It was in the steel tube bow for the rear window that I found drilled, unused holes -- perhaps for experimental positioning for the tensioners. I may have a pair that i replaced (due to excess wear) among my collection of spare parts.

Regarding the wheels, Tomas asked me about the part no.s, too. When I pulled out the spare, I found that the ancient spare had blown out at the tread/sidewall interface, so I ordered a new Michelin XAs from Coker today.

WOW, Fantastic car you have, nice colour combo as well! Just out of curiosity, how the paint tag reads?
Also, the instruments are one year ahead, never seen a similar arrangement.

I'm on the other end of the production, just purchased the last but one 67S SWT, 500717S
