More importantly... What are you bringing back from Cal? I am also in Atlanta and I ship about 6 cars a year. I have used USHIP many times and have been happy with the service I got. This morning I received a 70 E from the Northeast and the seller suggested Intercity. I was less than impressed. It took them forever to pick the car up. I had to call them everyday to hound them to pick the car up. When it was delivered this morning the hood was covered with about 100 oil drips from another car. The driver tried to tell me that they were.. Condensation.... I showed him that it was infact oil. Luckily, I believe that paint was not damaged. The driver told me that he did not put a car cover on my car because it was "already dirty". It looked clean to me. The service I received from the independent drivers on Uship was certainly better than Intercity. Just my 2 cents. Thanks, Tate

In the past, I've used Horseless Carriage and Passport. Passport allowed additional parts to be transported with the car at a small cost. Horseless and a couple others would not allow parts to accompany the vehicle. I can't complain about either as both had great communication and, most importantly, the cars came without a scratch.

Ouch. Very sorry to hear that. I see their site is still up; hopefully they will return to business eventually.

I'll keep Intercity and Reliable in mind when I need to do it again.

Almost of all of the companies in this business are brokers. For reasonable rates try these guys:

I used UShip to transport a travel trailer that I had purchased online. Ended up getting conned to the tune of $5K+ (trailer was stolen). I speculate that the seller of the trailer and the supposed hauler were working together. Just about zero recourse as I'm in Oregon and they're in the South.

I just bought a '67 Datsun 1600 Roadster. Pretty small car and should fit easily in an enclosed trailer. I put a post on UShip for some quotes, but honestly the horror stories I've heard are giving me reason to doubt whether I will use them or not. I would at least only consider shippers with 5 star feedback and lots of it.

    Hello BlackC4,

I used Intercity Lines back in 2007 to ship my '66 from California to Wisconsin. I was very happy with how they treated my car and would use them again in the future if needed.

    Good luck!

InterCity uses great drivers who take great care. Not cheapest though.

Like a couple of other people said, most of the people you see on the internet are just brokers, like Express http://www.theexpressauto.com/
What they do is give you the lowest quote and then put it on Central Dispatch for pickup and will take anybody, as long as they are cheap. But usually they underquote it and can't get it picked up, so after weeks they ask you for more money, you can't get your deposit back for 6 weeks while they try to find a carrier. I got hit for extra on the pickup and then the driver wouldn't take my car off the truck until I paid him even more, saying he ran into "extra expenses". It was a nightmare, try to go with someone that is not just an unknown broker.
I try to pick up everything myself if I can, but when I can't I have a broker who I trust and who stands behind damages and problems, feel free to call them if you want, I trust them. TSAT www.carmover.net Ask for Sue, tell her you are one of my Porsche buddies.
