I see quite a bit of the "Singer" philosophy & influence in this exercise.............not to mention the low-key, laid-back, but thorough and thought through analytical decision making process that both, Achim & Rob D. appear to share.

Good point John, I agree. How is Rob doing these days? I really admire his work; the original Outlaw production car.

I bump in to him fairly regularly as we live almost next door to one another, frequent the same coffee shops and restaurants, and work around the corner from one another. He's doing well ... business is moving forward and he very recently had a son.

Kevlar is more able to withstand a point load (bulletproof vests etc), is lighter than glass and much stronger. Carbon fiber is lighter yet and much more stiff but NOT very durable under a point load. Carbon fiber may be better if light and stiff is your goal but kevlar would be my choice if durability was at all a consideration. These materials and characteristics may have changed over the years but in my experience using glass, kevlar and cf, I would take a few lbs weight penalty of kevlar for the durability. I have extensively used all three in mostly single layer applications, watercraft, and the immediate bonus of light and stiff quickly wore off with use. SS

The voice of experience. Thanks Steve.

As an example, how much more money do you think for a hood in Kevlar over fiberglass would you guess?

What kind of resin do you use for kevlar? The kevlar panels I've seen had problems with the fiber not sticking to the resin. At least not nearly as well as carbon.
