    Power brake conversion / de-conversion (1973 2.4E)

I recently picked up a 73 targa 911E to restore / hot rod. Solid car but with a G series wide body conversion and 3.2 transplant.

It also has a power brake conversion - I suspect from a 3.2 Carrera or the like - whilst retaining stock S calipers.

This will be a street car only and I'm thinking about going back to a regular 73 master cylinder (or maybe the slightly larger MB unit). This will also look more period correct and free up space for a hardtop.

Does anyone know what the conversion entails, and thus what I will have to undo? I know a hole has been cut in the panel behind of the top of the fuel tank, and that will have to be filled.

Will a later pedal setup have been used?
    Cheers, Ryan

If you delete the Servo and fit a larger master cylinder the pedal effort needed for a give deceleration will increase although the travel will reduce.

You will probably have to change the brake pedal to be sure that you maintain the correct pedal ratio and on RHD cars the servo pedal is much thinner than a non-servo pedal.

I may be worth trying to find a good used non-servo pedal.

Thanks Chris - it is a factory rhd car, Aussie delivered.

So the servo mc would likely have been fitted with a later/matching pedal setup.

I'll know more when I begin pulling it down but that info is helpful from a planning perspective.

I have some spare RHD non servo pedals left over from our bias pedal box conversions but it is a long way to send a pedal.

Thanks Chris, I'll see what I can find locally but may come back to you if I luck out.
