    Seeking Opinions on Value

An interesting original owner car has just surfaced in California. The second owner has recently acquired it and he asked for my opinion on what it might be worth. Here's what I know about it:

    o 1967 911S Coupe
o Bahama Yellow (original paint in very good condition)
    o Original engine
    o Original transmission
    o 104,000 miles
    o Complete tool kit
    o Complete documentation
o All original interior, not sport seats
    o Original 4.5" Fuchs
    o Webasto in smuggler's box
    o Always garaged
    o No rust, No collisions
    o Black plate California car

I have some pictures at the office that I can post tomorrow. I told him what I thought it might be worth, but it's hard to be unbiased when you're filled with lust.

    Cheers,

    Lust Release

John, do the right thing and satiate your lust by buying the original '67S. Oh, and I can help out by buying your "Transformer" - what a great car that is. Talk about lust....

    Truly

Original paint cars command a deserved premium and are VERY rare; need to verify that! Great period color. We need to know more about condition of interior and other condition details. Assuming v.g.$60K plus..use Astronaut car, ~$90K, as a guideline. Add for original paint if verified and deduct for not a "famous" car, no sunroof, etc...

I'd say original paint trumps provenance and options, but thats just me.

I agree with that. If the condition is great could be $90k car but, still, today's market...somehow sounds high...

Geez, and I told him I thought $8K, maybe $9K tops, given that the paint was over 40 years old.

I was just kidding! I *would* love to own an original one as a bookend for my somewhat non-original one, but that would be the last straw - my wife would have me committed. I remember once when I owned a red '59 Convertible D and a red '60 Roadster and she was endlessly perplexed why I had two identical cars. "But, Hon, one's an A and one's a B". To which she replied, "They look like they're both in the same condition."

Actually, I don't think the new owner wants to sell the car - he's just interested in what it might be worth and what to insure it for. I'll post some pictures tomorrow and you guys will have more to work with.

    Cheers,

    John,

Committed? I thought you were already committed..to your wife

But really, a small price to pay..how long could it be? Much better than divorce after all! The cure? More Porsches!
