    Tried that. I think I'll get shorter nuts anyways. Three washers just looks Mickey Mouse to me. Is your plate bottom welded flat to the fender or is there free space underneath it for the bolts? Maybe they make the roll bar bases thicker now. TRE made this one but it may be a few years .

    Yeah Bob, FIRST get shorter bolts...

    When you look at my first picture and figure the foot plate is the same thickness as the hoop base plate (1/4" and a 1/4") you'll see that yeah, the foot stands off the wheel well a little bit and the margin is taken up with weld. Again, the foot plate is tacked on the wheel well while bolted (with the right size bolts) to the hoop base. The the hoop is removed and the foot plate gets welded permanently with all the margins taken up with weld.
