'66 on Ebay - be careful

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/300828316817...84.m1438.l2649

I emailed this seller Tuesday, asking for VIN and paint code; I also asked where the recent work was performend, and a location and time to inspect the car. I've so far received no response - you'd think he'd be eager to help out a well-accredited buyer who lives within a hundred miles.

Deals like this sometimes raise my antennae - I'm also curious about the lack of pan/suspension pictures. I did a bit of checking this afternoon - my sources say that this is a 912 with very soft floors and rear tub, that has been dolled up, photoshopped, and 911 powered. Note that his '66 sand cast engine' is actually a '68, by the #.

If it turns out I'm wrong, I apologize to to anyone this affects- but some people have no scruples when it comes to $$$$.

Hi guys. I am new to this forum and vintage porsches as well. I also emailed the seller. I received a quick response on the price of the car listed locally. I am visiting oklahmoa city this weekend and emailed him a second time to arrange a time to inspect the car. I have had no response. His first reply was prompt so i am suspicious as well.

I still haven't heard anything from the seller - and the more I look at the pics, the less interest I have. My interestlevel is now -10.

Auction appears to have been ended. This was listed once before, probably a couple of months ago. I contacted the seller requesting some additional photos of the VIN at the time, and while I don't recall the specifics of the response, it didn't make me feel comfortable. I think it sold last time around for somewhere north of $20k, but I wasn't surprised to see it again.

It should be presented as an early 912 hotrod, nothing wrong with that... honesty (except for cars and politics?) is the best policy.

I would love top track this car down. I saw the 68 car that the engine on this ebay sale came from the other day. Very straight body, would be cool to re-unite the car with its engine. Any leads anyone?
