Bringing a 76 Porsche into Calif. from another state

If I have owned a '76 Porsche for some years now, will I have to dump the car when I move to Calif., because it doesn't meet California smog?

Yes...1976 cars are subject smog tests and inspections in California.
so is the car for sale? what is it?

you can bring it to California but you will need a smog check before you can register it ,

it MUST have all the original equipment on the engine , there is a visual check and then a tailpipe test so your "Cat" needs to work too !

There is no safety check / rust check like on the East Coast
