    starter motor

    Having trouble finding a retail outlet for the Bosch starter motor SR68X model 1.5 horsepower that was talked about on this forum. anybody know anything?

    I just bought one from my local NAPA. Installed and working fine.

    turns out the Bosch SR68X is for the 2.4 cars and the SR17X or BSSR17X is for the 2.2 liter cars

    The SR 68X fits all 911 up thru 89. it is the 1.5 hp version, eliminates hot crank problems. The 17X is the 3/4 hp version. It will work fine if you want to use it, it is more prone to hot crank problems

    made sense to me because we are talking about two different tranny's--there would be two different Bosch starter motors. When you call NAPA auto parts, they ask if it is for a 2.2 or a 2.4 car.

    Parts Geek believe it or not has a better price and a better return core price. Like a lot better. Same part.
