    304065 - Thanks!

Flunder - I'm not sure what I want engine wise. The reason I purchased this car is that it's already been played around with. It's not original, it's more of a hot rod - race type seats and steering wheel, 2.7L engine, headers, etc.

My latest thought is to tune a bit, and drive the 2.7 until it expires while doing a build of a 2.2 over time.

In the mean time, I've got lots to do. Put mirrors and windshield wipers back on, fix some issues with front end, replace shops, replace brake lines, fix all the lights (only the headlights work), fix the shifter, etc. etc.

I'd prefer not to name names just yet. I don't think it's fair, since we haven't gotten too far into the car. But what was a long paragraph from those who performed the PPI, was a 3 page list from my local shop.
    This may be conjecture but...

Sounds to me like there was a miscommunication between you and the shop performing the PPI.

I always try to ask the client what he/she is looking for in a car and just how deep he/she wants me to go with the inspection ... prices will vary.

In the end it comes down to one thing - am I trying to help you find a solid car or am I trying to help you find a "perfect" car?

Your regular shop knows you better than another, so they were more likely to be in tune with your wants/needs regarding the car and were probably far more detailed in their report. The shop that performed the PPI was probably just trying to make sure you didn't buy a POS.

Congrats on the new purchase and I can't wait to see photos.

I'm sure there was a bit of of miscommunication. I'm sure there was my own excitement. I certainly wasn't looking for perfect. I was looking for a good running project to enjoy.

It's okay. I'm not really too upset. It should be fun. I just wish it ran better than it does. It should be a rocket with a 2.7 in it, and it feels more like a 912. I think that the Webers that are on it are completely wrong...... From the paperwork I got with the car, it looks like it had a 2.4 in it at one point too. I'm thinking that the carbs were jetted for the 2.4 and just moved over to the 2.7 as is.

The shifter is in horrible shape. But, since it is a hot rod, I already ordered a Rennshift from JWest.... I also ordered some extended length turbo tie rods from Elephant. The tie rods are in really rough shape.

It has a gas heater installed, but I have no idea of its condition. There is a newer style gas tank installed, so there is no gas feed to it. Otherwise, it seems to be all there.

If anyone is reading this, is there a good way to mount the electric fuel pump? Right now it's banded on with a hose clamp.

    Seth
