Yes, a mate has one in his 69E - looks great/correct and is very comfortable (I've done a 3 hour trip in that seat).

Thanks Rob and Ryan. Sweepco Oils are now available in Australia I see. I will get that for the tranny. The last owner has been using Castrol GLX 20W-50 in the motor. I suppose I could keep using that for a while.

Those Revolution Racegear seats look well priced. I really like the Vintage (R) Seats from Georgia, but with runners and headrests and a houndstooth insert they are close to $4,000 delivered ( http://www.vintageseats.com ). Do you get what you pay for ...

Merv firstly congratulations on you new car.

I've got a 69E that I race and recently asked my engine builder about oils and he suggested Castrol edge titanium 25w-50 for it and Castrol gtx20w50 for older engines.

I have the seat Ryan (Obrut) suggested, which is my passenger seat in the raxe car. They are well made and very well priced. I have looked at the Rs seat and like them. It depends on what your use is and if you are a toothbrush lover.. That said I wouldn't jump into it too quickly, I would sit in lots. Original seats can be found for as little as a few beers because they are not loved. A set of new seats will make the car extraordinarily better to drive. Be aware anything that is very deep will wear quickly on the door edge. That's my jumbled set of thoughts... Hope it helps a bit

I liked the 'tooth brush' comment. I wish I could find any original seats (even frames) I have a great trimmer locally who could do them. I have not seen any. The ones on eBay are very expensive for what they are. The existing drivers seat was set 2" lower than normal (these are '74 seats) and I have flipped the lowered seat mounts and raised them. It is a lot better now and I can take my time getting some seats.

Car has the sports wheel that was around at the time although the spokes have been polished. Should the spokes be black (matt)?

Welcome to the swb brigade... I'm biased of course as i drive a rhd 68L.

I installed seats into my car from the states a few years ago Rallye ST's - they were custom trimmed to my interior. pm me if you like.

until Monday 21st Jan. I have the Rallye ST from Phil in my 72 hot rod like them a lot have just bought some ST seats from Michael at
Vintage Seats (he is an aussie ) so should be able to comment on them in a week or 2. Don't rush the decision as suggested previously lots of good options available.

Thanks Clyde. I am in touch with Phil on the water (the wonders of modern technology) and Michael. Both seem very focussed on good products. Yes, no hurry as I have managed to invert the lowered seat mounting in the driver's seat from the previous (very tall) owner and I can drive properly now! The options seem to be Vintage, BF Torino (and Deser) and tired originals at exorbitant prices.

Merv - the only "issue" with LHD is at the ticket issuing machine in carparks - having to unbuckle and lean over ... !
Other than that - no worries

This can be resolved... A mate of mine drives a LHD Corvette and carries one of those toy 'extendable hands', you grip it at one end and the hand at the other end grips the parking stub/money. Drive through McChucks can be interesting apparently...

Not a problem. I can't see me visiting Macca's at all and the carparks will have to be patient. Actually the LHD is fun and the car is small. I did a lot of driving when living in Europe and the US previously and the only hassle was taking the LHD car to (say) Ireland those trucks on small lanes!
