[QUOTE=Biancaneve;616959][QUOTE=Merv;616877]Reedminor are yours the Torino Rally ST seats? Good point Ryan, about re-trimming some original seats with different foam densities for more support. I am keen to retain a period look in the car (which is not there in the present '74 tombstone seats) and also to have head restraints. I am still on the look out for good originals.

However, I am getting confused by the various repro seat names and claims. I seem to find that the closest repros to early 'Sports' Recaro seats are the Nurburgring R and the Le Mans (http://shop.bf-torino.com/shop_start/ ). The Le Mans perhaps the most. Is that a correct assumption? The standard, non-reclining Nurburgring and the cheaper Cobra seat look very similar, however, they don't allow folding access to the rear seats?

Here a pic on how Le Mans seats in corduroy actually look on my 1973 2.4 S.

Those Le Mans look good. Also the corduroy looks nice!

However, if you want a 68 look and sum up the cost for a deser seat and bracket and still haven't got the correct look for a 68 at around 70% of the cost of a genuine seat - I'd rather take my time and wait for a bargain on genuine seats or have the passenger sit on a standard and have a genuine sports for the driver.
With GRP buckets it is a bit different: for the pedantic there is still much difference between originals and repros, but at least the shape of the replicas is (often) correct but the gelcoat most of the time too glossy - and don't forget about the costly original $lider$.
But again the foam on d'eser Buckets is cheap quality -I'd rather opt for the the US guys: see http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...read.php?42993 there are more options than necessary

    Cheers

Thanks Uli. Yes the costs keep rising and getting closer between the repros and the originals! I DO want a head restraint and I DO like the Sports seats and their copies. That earlier thread is a great one.

I will now have a couple of '74 911 Tombstone type seats in black vinyl with runners and floor plates. Are they worth selling, or junk 'em?

Here are the seats and runners with Weltmeister mounting panels. Perforated centre sections. This is the LHS and it is in VGC. The RHS is in FC and has two splits in the horizontal seams. Could be easily repaired. If anyone is interested, I will hold them for a few days before my wife loses patience and wants the spare bedroom back.

What is the latest on who makes the best most "correct" Recaro Sport Seat reproduction these days.?I have heard the Desser seat is correct and I have heard it is not. What is the truth? With the price of original seats approach in the cost of a car, I will have to settle for close I guess. Thanks for feedback.

    Hi Mark,
    what is "correct"?
Direct contact, view from three foot, or 10 foot? Sure the d'eser is good, but here in europe there are still sport seats for less than 2k€ /each available (if you're really searching).
A d'eser costs 1k€ and still is not the real thing. If it was for me and a 71+ Car I'd use an Idealsitz S anyway instead of an Idealsitz.
    Cheers

Thanks for the input Uli. If anyone has some good Idealsitz S seats for sale please let me know. I will likely have to have the recovered bc my interior is tan and seems like they are all black. Thx Mark

Craig, I'm no seat expert but from what I have heard and seen (not touched yet) the Desser's look the part. Better in my opinion than the Tartan Plaid seats you posted above. And if Clyde gives them a Two Thums Up then they must be good because he has a great eye and I trust his opinion.
