    FS: @Coys Auction - 1972 Porsche 911S 2.4L Targa

Coys The Spirit of Motoring Auction, Ascot Racecource, UK, October 11, 2014

    1972 Porsche 911S 2.4L Targa
    VIN: 9112310517
    Engine: ?
    Trans: ?
    Mileage: ?
    Auction Estimate: £75,000 - £90,000 (No Reserve) [~US$120k-145k]
    Sold at: £77,960 (~US$125,400)

    Auction Description:

The 911S on offer today was delivered new in 1972. Today, this stunning European Left hand drive is finished in the striking shade of viper green with black leather trim. The car was restored in 2010, when it received a mechanical inspection and service by Porsche Oldtimer Service in Modena Italy. Invoices can be seen in the file.

Interior trim appears in very good condition and an unusual sought after wooden 1972/3 steering wheel is fitted (invoice for 910 Euros in the car's file). The car has been equipped with a Period style Porsche radio, viper green inertia seatbelts and a set of RS style seats. Importantly, it still retains its original door cards, which are so often replaced and are now very hard to source.

The car was then serviced again by D.G.M. Restauri of Milano on the 19/11/2010 before it was delivered to Greece.

Since 2010 this delightful 911S has formed part of a significant Greek collection. The car is always kept in dry storage and is in excellent overall condition as it has seen limited use after its restoration. Most discerning investors should note that this is an original European car and not an American import.

Even in its early years, the Porsche 911 was a wonderful driver's car, with comfortable seating, high build quality and far greater sophistication than other sports cars of that era. With prices at auction reaching almost £200,000 for these cars, this particular 911S is offered with a very sensible estimate indeed.

A range of ~$120,000 - $280,000. A reasonable good indicator is the Hagerty Insurance valuation tool at their website.

On Ebay now, 1970 911S coupe said to have belonged to a Registry member. Couldn't find a result here for the VIN 9110300292

    Description:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...-/281460806672

Up for auction is this beautiful 1970 911S. This car has been part of a passionate early 911 enthusiast's private collection for some time. This, as is the case with all of his cars, is an excellent car with no "stories" or hidden defects. With the prices of these cars on a steep incline, many of these cars are being resurrected from wrecked, rusty or molested hulks. This car is 100% original metal and mechanicals. This car was just completely disassembled and repainted the proper color .The car hes been seldom driven for several years, but is completely running and sorted and ready for a new home. Should you wish to have original 6"x15" wheels as opposed to the 7" wheels, I can exchange them. Good luck bidding. DO NOT email offering to buy the car offline, or ask what the reserve is. Thank you.

    Porsche 1970 911S Coupe Chassis Number 9110300292

In 1970 Porsche introduced the “C” series 911 S increasing the displacement to 2.2 litres, 180 HP @6,500 RPM. Porsche produced a limited production of the 1970 S coupe model with a total of only 1,430 examples making is car more rare than a 1973 RS Carrera. This 911S is an outstanding original example of the early “C” series S model. Just completed has been a total and through repaint of the original Light Yellow/62 paint. We could not find any evidence of rust on the entire car. The interior of the car is completely original including door panels, dash, carpets, headliner and glass with exception of the front windscreen. The only interior addition to the car from the Certificate of Authenticity are the factory sport seats. The original 6X15 Fuch alloys have been upgraded to period correct Fuch 7X15 alloy. Having purchased the car from a fellow Early 911 S Registry member the car has always been cared for in a most delicate manner. This car spent most of its life in California and then later in Florida in a Porsche collection in an environmentally control car building.
