Always liked the look of the rear window wiper; quite novel feature back in the day . . .

    BaT Description:

This 1968 Porsche 911S coupe was completed on October 9, 1967 and purchased new by a Mr. Schuler of Siegen, Germany. Finished in Tangerine over black, the car was equipped from the factory with a limited-slip differential, Recaro sport seats, and a heated rear window with a wiper. Power is provided by the numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six, which is mated to the original five-speed manual transaxle. The selling dealer acquired the vehicle from Road Scholars of Durham, North Carolina in 2017, and a mechanical and cosmetic restoration was completed in January 2019. Work totaled over $107k and included rebuilds of the engine and transmission, as well as a bare-metal repaint, new leather upholstery, refinished Fuchs wheels, Koni shocks, and much more as outlined below. This SWB 911S is now offered for sale in North Carolina with restoration invoices, a Kardex, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clear Florida title.

A previous owner had the car refinished in Light Ivory, and it received a bare-metal repaint in the factory shade of Tangerine (6809) during the recent restoration. The resulting finish is pictured up close in the gallery below. Exterior equipment includes front fog lights, European headlamps, amber taillights, and an optional rear window wiper. A replacement windshield, new exterior badging, and new lower rocker trim were fitted during the restoration.

The 15” Fuchs wheels were refinished by Harvey Weidman and are mounted with fresh 195/65 Vredestein Quadtrac 5 tires. The brake lines have also been replaced, and a new master cylinder was installed. Factory sport seats were reupholstered in black leather, and the dash and 4-spoke steering wheel were recovered by Autobahn Interiors of San Diego, California. The car came factory-equipped with a heated rear window and Webasto gas heater, the latter of which is not hooked up but is pictured in the gallery. Over 24k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, though total mileage is unknown.

The 2.0L flat-six is equipped with dual Weber carburetors, and the Type 901/02 five-speed manual transaxle was optioned new with a limited-slip differential. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by the selling dealer, and a new clutch assembly and exhaust system were installed. Stamping *4080264* matches the certificate from Porsche, confirming the engine as original. The matching transaxle stamping, 4280254, can be seen in the gallery along with the karosserie tag in the door jamb. Suspension refurbishment included new Koni shocks, tie rod ends, and bushings. An additional photo of the underside is viewable in the gallery, as is a copy of the Kardex and invoices for the restoration work. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory colors, equipment, and powertrain numbers.
