    Auction Description:

    - Rare right-hand drive, '72 2.4S recommissioned over last four years by David Broughton
    - Engine and gearbox rebuilt and interior re-trim by Southbound
    - Off the road from 1985 until the recent work was carried out
    - This is a 2.4 S to drive and enjoy or to restore further

This, right-hand drive, 2.4 S was registered to its first UK owner on the 17th March 1972 and is currently finished in the classic RS colour of Acid Blue with a black leather interior. Over the past four years, this 911 has been carefully restored by Dave Broughton having been bought as a project since the car had been off the road since 1985. Our vendor informs us that the engine and gearbox have been rebuilt and the interior was retrimmed by Southbound.

There are no accompanying books or much history but this is a rare car that’s being offered at a very competitive guide price considering it’s a right-hand drive example and is supplied with a current MoT. An honest and usable example that is ready to be enjoyed or fettled a little further.

    Auction Description:

    - A beautiful original 1973, UK-supplied, RHD car in black with a black interior
    - '73 was the last year of lightweight cars before the advent of impact bumpers
    - The 'S' was fitted with the final development of the free-revving 2.4 litre, type 911/53 engine producing 190bhp
    - Maintained regardless of cost and with a service history going back to when the car was new!
    - Huge file with invoices for engine and gearbox rebuilds, new heat exchangers, suspension, brakes and more
    - Well documented, only seven previous owners, recently serviced and on the button

This beautiful 2.4S was UK supplied in right-hand drive by AFN in June 1973. It has a Certificate of Origin from Porsche in the file and amazingly copies of all the V5Cs (from owner to owner) and every MoT, so the indicated mileage of 210,000 is warranted.

The car's original colour was Cream but was bare-shell repainted black in the late 1970s and has been Black ever since Our vendor bought the car in November 2017 and the seven owners prior to him are all carefully detailed in the owner's file along with other facts about the car's history.

The gearbox was rebuilt at 53000mls in Sept 1977 by AFN and there are details of a full engine rebuild (including pistons and liners, crank etc ) in Jan 1990 at 165,000mls by Edwards Garages. The body was restored in 2003 at 190,000mls at Total Repaint in London.

Naturally, with a car from 1973 that has covered over 200,000 miles, it has had numerous parts replaced over the years including brakes, suspension parts, heat exchangers, electrical parts, timing chains, clutches, tyres, etc etc etc and a substantial number of invoices for this work remain in the history file. These invoices read like a 'Who's Who' of respected Porsche people from years gone by and up until now
AFN, Auto Farm, CS Engineering, Charles Ivey, G L Myers, Leigh's Garage, Edwards Garages, Martin Horner, The Garage, TAG (Tim Alziari Garage) Canford Classics et al

The car was serviced and MoT'd by Canford Classics prior to our vendor's collection late last year. He has had a new dash top supplied/fitted (old one was cracked), new headlining and sun visors (deteriorated due to old age), a couple of bits of cosmetic paintwork for small dents and scratches, and then had it fully detailed in early 2018

The 2.4 ‘S’ is regarded as one of the finest and most coveted 911 models ever, and having the chance to buy such a rare, matching numbers, right-hand drive example, is certainly not to be missed.

    Dealer Description:

    - Rare in signal orange (9999) and 1 of 8 in 1970.
    - 1 of 34 right hand drive 2.2S’s imported by AFN in 1970.
    - Impeccably restored in it’s original livery of signal orange and black.
    - Only 2 previous owners from new.
    - Matching numbers.
    - Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
    - The 2.2S is the ultimate early 911. It was Steve McQueen’s favourite 911 and is said by many Porsche cognoscenti to be a better drive than a 2.7 RS!

The engine is the star in the 2.2S, now designated 911/02, with an increase in bore from 80mm to 84 mm. Power was up, courtesy of the Bosch mechanical fuel injection and a 9.8:1 compression ratio, to 180 bhp. This gives an impressive 166bhp per tonne. Lubrication is dry sump and there are stronger connecting rods and magnesium crankcases.

Other important aspects of the 2.2S, include the aluminium engine lid, ‘dogleg’ 901 gearbox and 15 inch Fuchs alloys.

2017 was the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 ‘S’.

    Auction Description:

Finding a Concours-quality early "long-hood" Porsche 911S coupe has become increasingly difficult; relatively few were manufactured and fewer still were sold in the United States. This magnificent 1970 911S coupe, glowing in brilliant Signal Orange (Code 14) with a black leatherette (Code 12) interior is precisely such an automobile.

Its owner states that this fine example had been parked and left to decay in a Florida carport in 1996 and was discovered in derelict condition in early 2010. A closer inspection revealed that it had accrued only 32,300 miles from new. After first considering it as a good starting point to build a track-day car for Porsche Club of America driver education events, the fact that it was complete and fully numbers-matching prompted a change of direction. Receipt of a factory-issued Certificate of Authenticity provided the fact that the car had been ordered with tinted glass all around, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and a "U.S. Comfort Package".

The current owner turned the car over to the highly-regarded restoration department of Brumos (Brundage Motors) Porsche in Jacksonville, where a comprehensive bare metal restoration was begun. Brumos is known for its exacting craftsmanship and attention to detail. Brumos shop personnel did the disassembly, engine, transmission, brakes and suspension, interior, and re-assembly work, while Terry Simmons, an independent specialist for the Brumos race cars and Brumos museum collection, put the tub on a rotisserie and tackled all the body and paintwork. This project, consuming some 3½ years, was completed in early 2014.

This wonderful 911S, which has been dubbed "Orange Crush", then began a new life as a Concours competitor, with the quality of Brumos' work producing a steady list of prestigious Best of Class, Judges' Choice, and Best Porsche awards at events including St. Johns (Meadowbrook), Hilton Head, Highlands, Lakeland, Pinehurst, Winter Park, Dayton, Ault (Cincinnati), Atlanta, Porsche Parade and a number of local car events. She has also been shown at Louisville, Kiawah, and Amelia Island. This fine Porsche has been described as a totally finished piece of artwork brought back to as original condition as possible with no expense spared - a true Concours d'Elegance winner. Showing just 33,325 original miles at the time of cataloguing, it is supplied with its correct and original Fuchs spare alloy wheel and tire, jack, tool kit, radio, a set of special color-coordinated CoCo mats, and a thick notebook of invoices. The serious Porsche collector seeking an early 911S coupe ready to be enjoyed on the highway or competing for trophies on the Concours field need look no further than this outstanding example.
Just noticed the background in these pics is Lake Rabun. Who's car was this?
