Tide came in a bit here, sold at $85,000 (I passed on this car at $53,000 two months ago).

So, looks like a mixed bag to me based on Mecum imho. Note that a lot of the Porsche 356 numbers at Mecum weren't spectacular as well.

In regards to the Pano article, the top end of the market has validated the top numbers for the S(private sales were already there), but the "good driver" numbers on the S (in general), and the T and E numbers appear to be unsupported from what I can see in the market.

Any results from the other auctions to make the case of a high tide?

    e
Unless a deal was worked with the auction company, doesn't the buyer pay an additional 10% above the selling price? IF that is the case, then the cheapest car was 93.5k. Doesn't that support the "driver numbers" listed in Pano? I leave it to the experts here, but I was curious to know this as I watched Mecum.

Also - I saw that RM was listing a 1970 S that I had discussed with the seller about 1-2 months ago. It was somewhere around high $70s / close to $80k. Silver 1969 S. I don't see the results from their auction, but was curious if someone knew?

Yeah - sorry I saw in another thread here on the registry that it was at Russo & Steele. My bad. I saw that the car I am thinking of sold for $55k. Ouch to the seller, as I believe he/she spent nearly $80k for the car pretty recently.

IMO, Mecum and Russo & Steele are not the best venues for collector quality European sports cars.

So the early 911S is finally a six figure car? Looks that way from here.

Yeah the Russo & Steele car was in Southern California as of July 16th. I was attempting to get a PPI done, had some difficulty lining one up, and was then told that it had been sold to someone in California. I originally saw it on eBay. The description and the photos are even exactly the same. I guess I didn't realize how the auction companies work. Here I thought they went out and inspected the cars, and actually took their own photos.
