    Porsche 911S 'Soft-Window' Targa - 1967

    http://www.export56.com/carsforsale/....asp?SaleID=11

Here is your chance to own a very rare and desirable car. This SWB 911S 'Soft-window' Targa is 1 of only 718 built in 1967. This car is currently undergoing a full restoration in our workshop and will be finished to original factory specification and painted in its original colour, Polo Red (6602).

    BACKGROUND TO THE MODEL

Porsche introduced the 911 Targa in mid-1966 to an enthusiastic audience anxious for an open 911. For the first model year in 1967, only the soft rear window was available. A year later, the glass rear window was introduced as a far more durable alternative. By 1969, virtually all Targas were glass rear window models, even though the soft rear window remained an option through 1971.

The 911 “S” was Porsche’s top-of-the-range sporting model throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, a period when the purest and most desirable versions of the 911 were produced. The 911S boasted a higher fifth gear, anti-rollbars front and rear, Koni shock absorbers and ventilated disc brakes. The engine was also improved with higher compression and improved breathing which produced 160 bhp.

    DESCRIPTION OF THE CAR

The 911S Targa for sale is an O-programme car manufactured in late 1967 making it one of the last Targas built in 1967 - Chassis number 500684S, Engine number 960541.

This car was purchased by us from California and is one of the best examples of an early 911 we have seen, very little rust and no sign of accident damage. Unfortunately the car had been colour changed many years ago and had lost some of its original body panels; engine lid, front bumper, and front quarters.

The body restoration is currently being carried out in our workshop using original SWB factory parts, the car will be completely stripped, re-panelled and painted in its original colour (Polo Red - 6602). The interior will been re-trimmed including new headlining, carpets and front and rear seats. All rubber seals will be replaced and all brightwork has been stripped and rechromed. Light units and lenses have been replaced with new original Porsche stock and 2 new battery have been fitted. The original 4.5 x 15 Fuchs alloy wheels and centre caps have been stripped, polished and painted and anodised. The engine has been stripped and rebuilt by us, including new cylinders and pistons. The original Webber 40IDS Carbs have been stripped and rebuilt and the car has been fitted with new SS heat exchangers.
