Early Gulf Blue or Golf blue versus later Gulf blue

Ok wizards I painted my 73 T Targa the factory gulf blue that goes with the code for the 73 car 6010/6060 328

Recently happened upon a 66 which I bought which is called in some circles Gulf blue and some circles Golf blue code 6603 315

I can find several early cars called gulf blue

I believe that It´s just a matter of translation!

    English : Gulf blue
    German : Golfblau

Golfblue is just a mix of the two above.

Below is a few pics of my fresh painted Golfblau 6603 912.

    Thank you

NOW I KNOW there are 2 Gulf blue formulas since my 73 was done in the correct Glasurit for the other code

The early one and the late one thanks !

You might find the Definitive Color Thread helpful. Lots of info on the different 'Gulfs' discussed

Randy, I have the wheels (997 S) you bought from Eade a while back. I live in Corvallis, OR. I've pm'ed, e-mailed you before a few times. Eade had me bring them up to Oregon on one of my trips. Do you want them still? E-mail me at scottlongballa@aol.com or pm me here. I need them gone. Thanks, -Scott

Discussion of Gulf Blue with comparison of similar shades starts here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...l=1#post521492

On my color-calibrated monitor, those shots are a pretty good match to the original 6603 paint on my '66 912. There are a few spots where the repaint(s) chipped off and the original shade still shows. I'll try to get a photo of it for comparison tomorrow.

This (color corrected) photo of the current is definitely *not* Gulf Blue. For a while I thought it might be Ossi. Single-stage, shot sometime in the '90s I think, but given the attention to detail elsewhere in this "restoration" I can't be sure it was meant to match an actual Porsche color.
