Advice on extra lights (through the grill) on a budget...

I have had my wife's 69 912 repainted under the guise of some BS repairs, and I'm ready to spring it on her for valentine's day... (well, we missed her Bday's deadline) Actually it's quite selfish, it buys me goodwill to do whatever I want to my 911 ;-)

The car is slate grey and I'd like to make it pop a little more with a set of yellow thru-the-grill lights. Can you advise me on a set that would not break the bank and look nice ? Doesn't have to be "correct" for the year or "original $$$", just period looking and not too hard to mount... I won't even wire them in for now, I am not sure the 912 can put out enough wattage ;-)

    TIA ! Greg.

This pair on eBay is a nice approximation and reasonably priced. Don't know about the electrics on the 912, though. Good luck and hey, the car looks great!

I have a set that mounts on the existing standard grills, they are clear lenses but you can spray them with rattle can yellow glass tint on the inside. If you are interested let me know $150 shipped.

    Greg...

I would source some period correct TTG lights that aren't necessarily associated with early Porsches by the faithful. You can get a pair with clear glass and paint the inside of the lenses amber. A set of lights should be around $200. You will also need the TTG grilles. Eric Linden has great ones for $250. And you need the mounting hardware and brackets, maybe another $200. So for around $650 you can have a nice looking setup.

Bought... Thanks for that idea... Actually they look a little big, but if they are too much for the 912 nose, I happen to own an old BMW2002 that they were made for, it would look just as good on that car ;-)

    Nice grab!

Here's an example of mounting the light directly to the grille - save most of the TTF stuff:

Deep amber lights on a gray car are a very nice touch.
