I will be there, but not in a Porsche. Note that there is a local "cars and coffee" on the golf course next to the Ritz Carlton. The website says "on the 10th and 18th fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island". By pre-reg only, 250 cars max, registration already full. Free admission to view. Saturday morning, 9am to 1pm.

It was plain ugly here today. Gooding had to move cars away from the edges of one tent. It POURED. It's cool too. Low 50's.
Supposed to be dryer tomorrow and Saturday and Sunday look really good into the 70's.

Headed to the auction tomorrow morning. Anxious to see what a friend's Lancia Aurelia is going to do. Should free up some cash if it sells!

Some decent Porsches. Here is a quick over-view from a very cursory look-see. For free you won't get a better report.

The Irish Green 67N has nice paint which draws the eye. Engine compartment shows very poor detailing. Wrong decals. Nice car that should have been finished better.
2nd and goal and they didn't punch it in. It always makes me wonder.

The White 69E has nice paint and detail. Wooden steering wheel has been treated to a heck of polish. Roll bar looks out of place. Car does have "eyes".

The '75 Euro Carrera is a "just a car" imho. Lots of swirl marks in the paint and the interior isn't at all special. Sure it's a 2.7 RS motor but that's it. If that does it for you then by all means. This one left me flat as a pancake.

The Silver '73-S shows really well. Paint is nice. Can see a slight vertical crease on the drivers door just forward of the door handle. Any dent specialist worth his salt can get out in 10 minutes. TTG rally lights look incorrect. Sport muffler is S/S. Incorrect 911 R type wheel with no butterfly. I believe this one had correct Bosch lenses on the corners. This is a very pretty car.

The '67 SWT has reproduction turn signal lenses. The chrome on the vent windows is pitted. Somebody polished the wiper arms.
Doors do not fit 100% on either side as they sit out from the body at the striker a couple of millimeters. Very apparent looking down the long view (side) of the car. PCA Concours Judge saw it too. It's an adjustment but cannot believe that somebody let it slip by. Seats don't look right but who am I to say? They look mighty big for a '67. Note that according to the catalog the engine is likely replaced with a unit that falls within the range for the car's serial number.

The paint on any of these cars restored cars was not absolutely laser straight. It was good in all cases but could have been better. Preparation is what it takes to make perfection.

The best Porsche at this auction? It may not be a 911.

    67 SWT:

Paint reading to infinity. Left fender, door and rear fender.
Must have a heck of a "skim coat" of bondo.
    1968 door handles
    Gold brake calipers
    No "black-out" under engine grill.
