    Schedule of Events – 2013
The 2013 Highlands Motoring Festival will expand the events over previous years. This year’s festival will be held June 6th-9th with festivities occurring on all days. Being only two weeks before the Summer Solstice the days are expected to be adorned with plenty of daylight and cool mountain air. Highlands is generally 10-15 degree cooler than the surrounding areas.
Welcome Party at the Ugly Dog Pub.

    Thursday, June 6th (evening)

Entertainment for the evening will include a Bluegrass band. This event is open to the public. No cover charge, however, donations may be made to this year’s charity, The Highlands Literacy Council. This event is being hosted by The Highlands Literacy Council.
    First Annual Charity Cruise

    Friday, June 7th (day)

New this year, is the First Annual Charity Cruise, a drive highlighting the many mountain waterfalls, views and small towns with a visit to the world famous Wheels of Time Motorcycle and Automobile Museum, in Maggie Valley, to witness some of the most unusual and rare motor vehicles around. If you haven’t visited this museum, you will not want to miss some of the most rare and unusual vehicles to be viewed. After a tour of the facility, and lunch, the Cruise will return to Highlands, for more events.
    Reception Party

    Friday, June 7th (evening)

A reception party for participants and open to the public, will be hosted by The Highlands Literacy Council. The party will be at Sweet Treats Restaurant and will include heavy hor d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
    Highlands Motoring Festival Car Show

    Saturday, June 8th (day)

The 6th Annual Highlands Motoring Festival Car Show will open at 10:00 (Registration to begin at 7:30) at the NEW venue, the Highlands Civic Center, on US 64 North. This location is only two blocks from the previous venue. This new venue will allow special cars to be displayed indoors, and more cars outdoors surrounded in a wooded environment. Cars will be grouped in 9 different classes, for viewing and participant judging. Trophies, crafted by a local pottery artisan, will be presented to cars designated as Best in Class, and Outstanding in Class. Also presented will be the Best of Show. While most cars will be 1988 model or older, a Special Interest class will exist for special vehicles that might not otherwise qualify for judging.
    Bar-B-Q and Bluegrass Gala

    Saturday, June 8th (evening)

New this year, is a Bar-B-Q and Bluegrass Gala. A special Motoring Festival gala with a highly popular regional bluegrass band, NitroGrass, featuring two-time national banjo champion, Charles Wood will provide entertainment for a Bluegrass and Bar-B-Que Gala on Saturday evening. Located at a facility with a beautiful mountain backdrop as well as other cars for viewing, this promises to be an event that will quickly sell out. The event is organized and hosted by The Highlands Literacy Council.
    Third Annual Road Rally

    Sunday, June 9th (day)

The Highlands Motoring Festival, will once again, host the Third Annual Road Rally. The Rally continues to be very well attended, for the last several years, and expect participation to be even larger this year. This event begins Sunday morning, with a gimmick rally (not speed judged), with stops at local waterfalls, and a brunch between the legs. Finishing at the Ugly Dog Pub, early afternoon, for awards, friendship, and “war stories”.
Please make plans to join others at this year’s events.
