    Take two, they're small.

OK. After 6 (yes, count 'em, 6) failed PPI's on various cars over the last few weeks, I flew to Florida last night to buy a very special car - a 1970 911S in tangerine, 93k original miles, incredible history and documentation, and great options (sunroof and power windows). It's a beautiful example and a very original car. I'm thrilled to own it.

And, before anyone calls me out on it, yes, I did buy another 911S less than two months ago (my '69 SWT also in tangerine). Bottom line was that I also wanted a coupe and these things aren't getting any cheaper.

    A very good day.

John - congrats. Glad your perseverance paid off. A nice matching pair.

Just curious - 6 failed PPI's? Could they all have been that bad?

They really were. I'm not one of those guys who expects these cars to be perfect - I understand they're more than 40 years old - but I was on a very bad, and very odd, run with my PPI's. The latest was a one-owner, low mileage car that I was 100% ready to buy. But much to my surprise (and the owner's as well) the PPI revealed that the number on the engine case had been shaved and re-stamped (poorly, I might add). Not a deal-breaker unless the car is priced as a matching numbers car - which this one was.

In the end, it all worked out. Can't wait to see my tangerine siblings next to each other in my garage.
