I believe it's the knob that you turn to reset the trip meter on the speedo.

It's for adjusting the trip mileage. You use it to turn.

Hi -- Figured it would be easiest to resurrect this old thread. Am new to the group so look forward to meeting you all at some point! I recently bought a 71 911S and the car was missing the trip reset knob. I have been searching around but haven't been able to find at places like Stoddard / Pelican / PartsKlassik. Thought I would ask to see if anyone may know where to get these. I found a place in the UK that has them but it will be about $65 for the part and shipping.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Best,
Sanjay
Never adjust the odometer while driving. It destroys the little metal spring.
Turn on this knob only when car stands still.
