I've bought the AppBiz foam pad for my 1973 and it looks really good. The outer "skin" has a little structure, but it has a skin, so not the core foam material visible.

My experience with the Appbiz one wasn't so good. I bought it earlier than I needed and when I went to install it about a year later it has shrunk significantly (2 inches or so). I also discovered that it wasn't fire retardant or fire resistant. I then found a local foam company that supplied me with class 0 fire proof material which they cut for me using a template I provided. Much better result and much cheaper too.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure when this experience was, or what material that one was made of; The current pad I received is made from EPDM cell rubber; That has a crimp of around 1%. If (close to) original appearance is not a consideration, there are many more options. And fire retardancy is indeed one of them (besides UV, oil, acid, etc); And still moldable. But, the main reason for using padding in the first place, is sound proofing. And finding material that fulfills all these requirements in "optima forma" is (close to?) impossible.
Is your padding made of CR/neoprene rubber?

This looks very nice, So where do I get one??
Stu
It is a class 0, fire proof, open cell foam. I had to opt for open cell since it was the only fire proof option. Closed cell was available as a fire retardant option but I wanted fire proof. My car is a '73 911E with MFI so maybe fireproof should not be a worry versus carburettor models but I wanted to play it safe. AppBiz told me that their product was neither fire proof nor fire retardant and this was about a year ago. Maybe they have changed their material but if it is a concern, contact them and check.
911MRP - please note, I could not find a '73 style sound pad so had to go for this. It does not have the embossed basketweave print mentioned earlier but I am happy with the results.
