Thanks David. I suspect the burlap style changed. The one on my 12/72 model 73 car is like picture shown by Gearby. Hard to see the reverse without pulling at it and don't want to do so until ready to replace it .... but pretty sure it is a foam on reverse and starting to disintegrate.

In some ways it would be preferable if I could use the ones now being reproduced but would not if not authentic. Nos if prone to disintegrate probaly not a good idea even if foam backed one still exists. Be interesting to hear from owners with cars from that ealy my 73 period if they think their pad is original.

I have been using Isoproq for many years (a vendor at the Essen Classica). Not OEM but looks close.

Anyone anal enough to accurately reproduce the 70/71 pad yet? (Also correct for '64.)

The reproductions that I've seen aren't even close to the proper grain.

    Frank,
    Aren't Eric's good through MY '70?
For the later ones try Alex. He's doing limited runs of the later ones which are really nice.

    Thanks.
Nothing at all against Alex but not even close to original mid '70-71.

Pic below from Rick's car. Definitely original.

Same as on my 1/70 Ess so, I wouldn’t limit it to a mid 70 start.

thanks all for the responses. No answer on my question, but I see the thread-revitalizing had some usefulness. :-)

I remain interested in the model 73 pad like Gearby and now SwissCheese mentioned.

Great that other years exist but the finish and style he describes is of interest as my foam is disintegrating in a way that rubber or plastic foam often does with age. Foam seems to be reverting to its original chemicals It is not burlap. The visible face is different almos like a false weave imprint as described.

The fact questions about availability 73 version seem to boomerang back to the available bit different ones suggests the 73 version referred to is not available. Pity. Maybe a market for this who repro things well. It is the visible surface that is distinctive from the current rubber ones I've replaced on other folks car and they don't look correct Vs what I presume is original for 73.
