Garage find low miles 76 non sunroof Turbo Carrera

I am really not good at story telling ..well here goes anyways... thanks to my good neighbors always keeping an eye out for me...and not just for finding cars but just good folks that I have had the pleasure of living in close proximity to my home and we've pretty much have been watching out for each other over the years for just about anything.
So the other day a local muscle car enthusiast came to me to tell me about an acquaintance of ours who had a stroke and wanted to maybe sell his Porsche. ...Wha??Jimmy had a Porsche?
at any rate, I followed him up to Jimmy's house and there in the garage squeezed in tight between a couple of Benz was the car... a 76 Turbo that he has owned since 1984 but has been stored since his stroke in 2004...yeah that's bad, when I think of what I went thru recently, I am so glad to be back on my feet and somewhat living a normal life. A stroke is so much more disabling and why Jimmy wanted to sell the car cause' "I'll never be able to drive it again" very disheartening.
After catching up of years of not seeing him, I told him I would like to buy the car, I am no longer tune pianos, I tune Porsches now and this is one I never had the pleasure of owning one much less the opportunity to drive one. We were quick to strike a deal and I hurried home to fetch another neighbor to pick up the car.
It was last on the road in 2004 and only has 37K miles. I am so stoked I can write anymore...I'm going out to play with my new toy later...

Non sunroof early Turbos are not all that uncommon. Back then they were still "driver's cars" and the people who tended to buy them were more concerned about all-out performance than they were about the wind in their hair.

Great color! Richard, please be careful with that thing. Turbos, especially the 3.0L cars, are a special animal. Each year (75, 76, and 77) were unique and there's a lot that goes into resurrecting them and then keeping them going. More than any other Porsche, Turbos do not react well to long-term bouts of non-use. A huge congratulations on the find.

thank you all, appears to be mostly original paint except maybe the rear pass quarter. I havent wash it yet, spider webs and all. the underside is real dry and clean, not rust at all. I have yet to put it on the lift and start re-awakening this beast. I'll need all the help I can get I am Turbo non-savant

Wow!!! What a find!!! I've loved those since they came out and would LOVE to get my hands on one. Especially a gem like that! Congrats!!!

And if I were you, I'd be making reservations at the restaurant of your neighbor's choice. Steak and lobster would a cheap finder's fee!
