just checked another original 30K unmolested car and this is the correct tach and no boost gauge though it would be a good idea to add one.
    Curious.

Every original 3.0L turbo I've ever seen has a 1.5 bar gauge in the tach.

The 3.3L cars got a 1.0 bar gauge...

I just found another source on the tube of a very original low mile 76 US Turbo, in the vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AKpUeYh2Qoyou can forward to the interior for shots of the dash (around 28:00). My friend Dave also has a 76 TC the same tach, must be 3.3L that you see with the gauge at the bottom of the tach or owners updated theirs.

thanks Tom, it must be the 77 when we start seeing the integrated boost gauge.
Looking thru the owners manual the gauge is correct as pictured. So Marco in a sense you are right that every 3.0L and 3.3L thatyou have seen had the gauge but they musta been 77's n' up.

Nope. They were '76s (no power brakes which were introduced in '77). Perhaps they were retrofitted during a dealer visit early in life, or they were later-production '76 cars with the boost gauge update already done before the '77 cars hit the market.

I love learning about these quirky details and subtle parts changes ... Porsche learning as they went.

My canned excuse is that I'm too young to have to know this stuff.

According to Peter Morgans "Original Porsche 911"

    Dashboard & Instruments:
"Smaller Three spoke steering wheel was fitted and revcounter to 7000RPM instead of 8000RPM ...aaand, surprisingly a boost gage was not fitted to the Turbo until the 1977 model year"..there you go!.../ Lars...

Ooops..I see Richards goes to 8000RPMs..

Indeed. It seems you also need the plastic holder bit. The microphone itself shouldn't be so difficult to find; I recently bought the one pictured at a swap meeting as a gift for my brother in law who accidentaly broke the one in his Carrera 2.7. For the plastic holder, I don't know if it can be sourced somewhere.

Interesting that the WS states color to sample; so what does the paint badge say? Any other paint decals? The DOT/Compliance decal would be interesting also.

the door tag is 021-9-3 a brief search on Glasurit brought Malaga? I have a 78 in the same color well as close as can be and that one has 436 9-3 and is called sienna metallic. Ill add the DOT compliance photo in a while, its perfect.
