    porsche SC RS

    Dear all,

I am seeking information on SCRS 1984 (type 954) and a special focus on the engine 930/18 that equiped the 20 SCRS. I do beleive it delivers 255hp, is a 2997cc and has a compression ration of 10,3:1, also twin sparks.
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with the list of parts/modification made to the original 3,0L.
Are you aware of any books/technical documents I could refer to ?

    All the best
    Xavier

It used a Kugelfischer injection pump, the last time I saw one they were asking 20k. Excellence had some coverage on it, you best bet might be Jurgen Barth, I believe he was in charge of the project. Basically a Rallye car.
    engine type 930/18; 95x70.4
    valves intake 49, exh 41.5 ports I43, E 43

Thanks David. This is quite a mysterious car, as it is quite tought to find detailed pics or precise docs. I tried here in Europe to find some, but found very little.

    Cheers

    Hello Xavier,

I guess you want to make a nice tribute of a SC RS with your last acquisition...?
I read here a thread of a guy doing the same, but I couldn't find it anymore!
Look forward to see your job.

Ping Steve Weiner at Rennsport, I think he has worked on one of these before.

The horsepower and torque figures quoted above seemed a bit low to me for a 3.0L, high compression, MFI, works rally motor so I did a little reading in Paul Frere's Porsche 911 Story. Paul notes the figures above are achieved with a road-legal silencer (muffler) but that the motor was tuned for a rally exhaust, with which it makes 280 PS @7000RPM and 214 lb/ft @5500RPM.

You best bet is Jan from Belgium,he owns 4 of the 20 made and by most part the best authority in the SCRS.also look at the 911 total too mag from last year and some other mags from France and Germany.

If you have time go to the Porsche museum, they have a great example there too.

I have seing some of the SCRS in person plus the tecnical aspect of them is great, its a sleeper !

    Jacques, Thanks. Merci.
I will make my SC a race car to do histroric races, and would like to stick to what Porsche did with this SC cars for the competition. The SCRS engine is probably the most period and advanced engine for the SC.
I will deviate a bit on the interior and do not know yet abour the rear wing.

    Greetings Folks,

I have sent MP/mail to Steve W. and Jan the Belgium.
I'll made contact with Jurgen Barth later this week.

I went to the Porsche Museum, and the SCRS was not displayed not even visible at that time.

    Will let you know.
