    some 67 911S questions

    hello

this is my first post here. i`m from austria and got hit by the 911 virus very early in my life.
i have restored several 911s and im very picky when it comes to useing the correct parts.thats why i`m seeking help here.

    currently i restore a late 67S coupe
since the vehicle was in pretty bad shape(lwb conversion+ later a impact bumper conversion) and many S specific parts where missing i need some infos

some say the 67S had a leather covered dash but a friend of mine has an obviously unrestored 66`S(mj67 of course) ...vin 305528S and it has a leatherette covered one mine is a very late one 308139S (the dash was missing so i dont know how it was done)
are both parts of the dash then covered with leather ore only the one that goes around the dails?i guess also the flat one in case.
the below dash trim is leatherette---it seems to be the one with wich the car left the factory.

    next question

the door lock zylinders....whats correct the convex or koncave push buttons?(it is a european car).

in the luggage compartment some 911swb do have two L-shaped brackets on the right hand side behind the smugglers box---some dont---what function do they have?? does it have something to do with the gas heater?

    Q:
the engine fan ring strap should be painted black--right??

Q: the front brake dust cover is according to the partskataloge different to the non S swb one.. is it realy so much different or is it only cut in a different way so that one can easily modify it?

Q:the windscreen washer pump is actually the same as the 65/66 one? parts manual says its the same pump as 68- but i think the correct -67 pump does not have the L-shape metal bracket ...

Q: the glove box door cover on the inside---is it leatherette or satin finish?

Q:are there two different types of chrome beezels for the dash switches used on the swbs--i think yes but i dont know what the difference is--- maybe its a different diameter of the threat(somewhen in production they changed(reinforced) the headlight switch--so maybe this is the reason why the manual shows two chrome versions.

Q: the ashtray on my car was missing---i do have one of a late 67 912 with the brushed metal facing.
i do have the correct basket weave material to cover it--but i wonder how it was done..simply wraping it around the corners for sure not--i guess there is an extra metal plate bolted or riveted on the tray.

if someone could post some pics that would be cool..

so thats it for the moment-sorry for my bad english but.
im not an native english speaker so i hope the questiones and my english is understandable...

    thanx in advance

    Hello
Your 67S should be from feb / mar 1967 (not a very later one).
    Some answer:
-fan strap: black - with 2 fixing bolts
-all dahsboard including glove box and ash tray: leatherette
    - ashtray: the leathrette is simply wrapped around its facia (a simple piece of steel, not the '66 alu plate )

My english is not very good too :-)

Hi Franz and welcome to the forum!

Take a look at this thread. It will make it easier for you to find specific info on this site: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...egistry-forums

I tried to look into one of your questions because I need to sort out the same thing myself.

VDO washer pump 01.67 date code.
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ate-code-01.67

I bought my washer pump new from Porsche, but it is still in the box. Have not compared it to an old one yet, but my impression is they are identical (will double check) and same as used on the earlier cars.

Can you post a picture of the L shaped bracket you mentioned??

    How it is mounted:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...sher-pump-help

Good documentation by MTemp on placement of the bracket and what it looks like:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...her-Fluid-Pump

A picture from a very original 67 normale where you can see the pump:

I´m collecting 67S pictures for my future restoration. Happy to share everything I have in case that can be of help.

    Sending you a PM.

    Regards,

    Radmund

Those brackets hold the trunk carpeting and prevent objects stored in the trunk from hitting the bulkhead. Common to all SWB chassis.

    hello 304065

i do have several swb`s here in my shop----some have them some not---does not matter if reutter or karmann bodies.
`for example a 65` 301... does not have them, the 11810708 68`i just bought yesterday does also not have them...and there are no signs that anyone removed them ... 305528S + 306124S do have them 307662S + 308129S not,308131S has them again.(note that the last two cars are built at the same day ......and so on and so on... all cars are equiped with gas heater.
on 912 i have never seen them(havent seen so many 912 so that does not mean anything).
