France Spring Porsche and Coffee - June 16th

    Dear all,

Summer Porsche and Coffee, Sunday June 16th, Chateau de Rambouillet, 10:00 am.
all Porsche welcome, Classic preferred :-)

"The castle acquired by Louis XVI in 1783, gradually transformed into a charming residence, it has very beautiful Rococo and Neo-Pompeian style interiors. Surrounded by formal French gardens, canals, and six islands, the castle today is an official presidential estate, and receives Heads of State invited to France.

The two follies in the grounds of the Chateau de Rambouillet illustrate the taste of nature fashionable in the late 18 century. The sea shell thatched cottage, decorated by the Duke of Penthièvre for the Princess of Lamballe, has some of the most beautiful marble, and mother of pearl decoration in Europe."

For those who wish to have a nice ride prior to join Rambouillet, I will depart from the City Hall of Versailles at 9:15 am.
Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, je partirai de la mairie de Versailles a 9h15, et emprunterai les petites routes en forets.

    Post pbq Diva P

Diva Peters revelsin her signature style
Bernadette Peters must be a castiron kewpie, because she is still going strong at 57. Sunday afternoon at Symphony Hall, occhiali da sole oakley, the Broadway diva looked half her age in a silver gown cut low above and high below (''I always dress like this in the afternoon," she confided), and most of the time she sounded great, too.
It was a big concert, much of it supported by a 29piece ''Boston Musica Viva Orchestra" of firstrate local freelancers led by Peters's longtime music director, Marvin Laird, who sometimes took over the piano to accompany her in the more intimate songs.
In recent years Peters has often worked against type as Annie Oakley in ''Annie Get Your Gun" and Mama Rose in ''Gypsy," both parts created by Ethel Merman, who was a very different vocal and physical personality. Peters has a remarkable vocal technique that has carried her through those roles pretty much intact; she can still deliver the slightly naughty soprano innocence with which she made her name.
And she still sounds best doing it she was wonderful lying fulllength across the piano and whispering ''Fever." She seemed to enjoy singing numbers assigned to others in shows she's been in (''Let Me Entertain You" from ''Gypsy" and ''No One Is Alone" from ''Into the Woods") and ones the female lead never gets to sing, oakley occhiali da sole, like ''Some Enchanted Evening" and even ''There Is Nothing Like a Dame" from ''South Pacific." She was at her virtuoso best in ''You Could Drive a Person Crazy" from ''Company, occhiali oakley," taking on all three parts and throwing off a brief coloratura flight. Her voice sounded clear and free all the way up to G; she also ventured down as far as the D 2 octaves below. Her timing of consonants was part of the fun.
When she was operating fulltilt in Broadway belt, you could hear the effort it cost her, lenti oakley, and the actual sound wasn't all that appealing. In that mode, oakley 2013, Peters doesn't have many options for color and dynamics; she could be just about anybody, and the stagy gestures come out. But when she pulls it into purr, she could only be the irreplaceable Bernadette Peters..
