    Hydro Pneumatic strut replacement

'69 T originally equipped with comfort group, hydro pneumatic (H-P) struts. In addition to the strut, the a-arm and a-arm support/cross member are H-P specific.

A source says that 3.2 Carrera front suspension (strut, a-arm, cross member, torsion bar, steering rack, and sway bar) will retro-fit to a 1969 chassis. According to the source, this is a common update for H-P equipped cars.

Any comment or experience with this solution?

You need to check your control arms and cross member. 69s mostly came with control arms that have splines in them (the same as regular 911s and 912s) They didn't put hollow a arms on H-P equipped cars until the 70 YM cars. All you should need to do is add torsion bars and adjusters along with a couple of regular struts from any car from 69 on. It becomes just a matter of choice (and pocket book) as to what strut/brake combo you want to use.

    Regards

    Jim,

Thank you for your input. I checked, and this '69 does have splines in them.
    I really appreciate it!

I have a set of hydro pneumatic struts that were recently rebuild with new Bilsteins inserts. They have 3.5" bolt spacing. If interested let me know...probably easier and cheaper to just swap mine for yours

I did not know that the hydros could be fitted with Bilstein inserts. Obviously, they were re-machined?

How much do you want for them, and I assume you need the cores?

My mistake, they are Koni inserts. $250 + shipping. I don't need yours in exchange.
