Bulb contacts. The bulbs are held by the housings.

This must be a trick question?

No trick question. Just seems to me they would have a more "special" name. I don't know. Bulb holders/contacts is just too simple but of course makes perfect sense.

    Thank you gentlemen.

The reason I am a bit clear about this is that I just chased multiple intermittent lights and just replaced/repaired front and rear light assemblies.

With LWB cars that have a different style of bulb contacts, a good tip regarding the "bulb contacts" is if the bulbs are loose in their sockets, try increasing the tension on the contact fingers. I did this (without the power going to the assembly obviously) by using a hooked dental pick and gently pulled/bent the contacts for greater tension against the bulbs. Worked well and solved some what appeared to be bizarre electrical issues.

BTW, the reason I used the the dental pick was that I didn't want to remove the entire light assembly and then its backing plate. Much easier to pull tension the contacts through the bulb hole.

Excellent advice. I did that along with cleaning all contacts, replacing bulbs and using some sort of electricity gel (sorry can't recall the name). I could get things to work and would button everything up until later someone would tell me my brake light was out.

Also, there are two metal tabs on the double wired ones that you can bend which may or may not help. For now and hopefully not intermittent, replacing with NOS has resolved the issue. Fingers crossed.

Bob- good to mention: the tabs are steel fingers behind the brass contacts: the steel fingers push on the brass ones that make contact on the bulb centers. The brass are not robust enough is my guess. When looking for increase tension/contact on the bulb center, make sure the steel finger is the one that is also adjusted.
