Thread: Not the first, surely not the last - but this is my attempt at an "ST"

Just subscribed to your thread, and good luck with the build!

You mentioned that you're on a "limited budget". I'm curious--what's the target cost for the project, end-to-end? I've got a roller and am looking at an St-like build, and am trying to get my arms around things.

    Thanks Kenneth.

I am not sure I feel comfortable discussing specific project costs. Cost varies so much depending on where you are located and what you want the end result to be like. With a rolling chassis already on hand your final cost can be anywhere from 10,000 to +100,000 USD.

My suggestion is that you break down your project in to pieces, defining what it is you want to do. The smaller the pieces the more accurate your estimate will be. Then start obtaining offers from different suppliers. Once you have this you can start to look at which parts of the project do you want to handle yourself and which do you want to outsource. With this established you can look at going with one single source handling the entire project, maybe allowing you to negotiate a better deal, or piecing it out. Personally I went with a single source for the rolling chassis. The drivetrain and oil system I took upon myself to find. That turned out to be the best deal for me.

Feel free to get back to me if you want to bounce some ideas around.

    /Johan

Any input regarding what to do with the joint between the rocker and sill would be highly appreciated. I hope to go back up to the painter's tomorrow to resolve a few outstanding issues.

    Thanks in advance!

Leave the joint open for an ST.

Things are slow moving at the painters. So I stay occupied by gathering some parts. Got myself a 10k VDO tach the other day, looking forward to receive that.

On the Weber 46s I bought there are currently some Italian filters installed. Anyone recognize them? I am curious as to on which cars they were used or if they are just aftermarket.

    Thanks Joel.

    The front fenders are fiberglass.

Wheels will be 15", with 8" Fuchs up front and 9" Minilites in the back. It is really too bad the tire selection is so slim for the 15x9 rims, since I don't think 16" look as good on the older cars (might have to get a set of 16" track rims though). Would also have been nice if Hoosiers were street legal over here.
