    Koni shocks?

    Attachment 259690

Font calipers look Early type, right?

    Attachment 259692

    Attachment 259691
These are not SWB front struts

Are the rotors ventilated? Because the calipers look to be iron and therefore not (later) S (only SWB S calipers were iron?).

probably A calipers, cast iron used after aluminum S calipers

The struts will say Koni on them if that is what they are; also a part # and a date. There are two kinds, depending on how the ball joint was fastened; the bottom end was split to allow a clamp bolt to hold the early joint, or not split for the wedge pin on the later joint. You need to know to be able to obtain the correct ball joint and fastener. Those are the A calipers, so the strut is probably Koni with the 3.5" caliper mount; a good score. So it appears that the suspension was upgraded to the long wheel base version.

Looks like it has LWB aluminum rear trailing arms, SWB style wiring harness at the rear, modified wiring harness in trunk area, rocker sills have the SWB heater outlets, struts appear to be the wedge type, brake line clips are style used from 356, 914, and all 911's. Looks like front strut towers have welded on ears for strut brace. Looks like a solid tub.

Over on Pelican, there's a set of 15 X 5.5 Fuchs date stamped 2/68. Maybe you want to scoop those up?

I almost peed my pants after reading Ed's comment "Looks like a solid tub" then 10 seconds later seeing the pic of the femur bone still attached to the cross member!

    Hilarious!

Alex, good luck with the project.

Do you think it is repairable?
What do you think is a possible cause for that to happen?

Would this problem be enough to make you quit this project?

Sorry for so many questions but I am getting really involved on this...
