Thread: Restore or sell on?

    Restore or sell on?

I just purchased 302226 a 1966 car. The car had been tucked in a barn in PA since 1987. Plenty to do to the car cosmetically and mechanically. The car arrived last night, and was started for the first time tonight. I really don't know which way to go with the car. Full restoration, or get it running well and let the next guy finish it. Input is always appreciated!

If you've ever wanted an early 911 then this is a keeper, looks very complete, you only get these shots once a lifetime, if you're going to pass it on, let the next guy figure out how he wants to do it. You don't make money selling short term after a major restoration. The money is made at the time of purchase.

Think conservation. I believe this car may be too good to restore. If you watch the auctions closely you'll notice that restored cars go for about 20% less than original cars. You can go over this car and preserve it. Why spend a bunch of money to lower the value of the car?

I wouldn't think that this is a preservation candidate, since the front left fender, bumper and hood have already been worked/replaced.

I would just clean everything, polish all the green portions of the car. Have the other panels painted green and then make a decision.

Here is what is being bought/sought. One bike was $133,000 and the other was $40,000. 1911 and 1912 Pierce Singles. You tell me which one was higher. (Simeon: The Stewardship Of Historically Important Automobiles) The future is here.

Clean it with care and I'll bet that you can hit a home run if you don't want to keep it.
