That's what I seem to be hearing about the Dansk. And the SS variants seem to have a better sound for some reason.

I suspect the SS sounds different due to the hardness of the metal. Mild steel will absorb a bit more and take some of the raspiness which some of us like.
I have been thinking about the different sounds from these engines and even think the early engines with Biral cylinders sound better than the later all alloy versions which have fewer fins.
Most later, larger engines seem to have a flatter sound that I'm sure isn't just due to exhuast but a combo of stroke, engine materials and exhausts. Compression and cam timing also affect engine note.
Has anyone ever compared the sound between SSi and mild steel headers but using the same muffler?
Just like a well tuned guitar vs one with a dodgy string, there is alot that makes an engine sing.
Sorry if I just muddied the waters even more.

The SS Dansk 2-1 is firming for me, or maybe even better the M&K http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...2537%2533%2529
Although the Dansk is 23lbs compared to 50lbs for the M&K Not sure how the M&K sounds.
Does anyone have Monty Muffler http://www.montymufflers.com/index.html

I bought a Monty, he's in Yarra Glen.
It was good, but sound is subjective.
I'll give him a call today. What is your subjective 'take' on the the Monty?
