So it was titled as a 56? Built after the break? You learn something every day. My GT 83794 was a steel panel car the second T2 speedster made. But it had the typical odd mix of a transition car. It had some T1 aspects but was designated as a T2. Yeah, Pre A speedsters have a following but I still feel the Alu cars are and will continue to be the ones. Mainly because they were always built to be race cars. The GS cars not so much. Before the GTs you had to make a race car out of a GS. Unless the factory did it. Was the auction car Mark Buljon's 56 GS, with the glaspar hardtop, record holder at Bonneville? Thanks for the info Jon B.

    Marks GS Speedster?

I would be interested in knowing if the speedster was Marks car. I have the origional GS engine from that car. It has been owned by a person who lives in Italy. However I think Marks car was VIN # 82058.

My understanding is this Speedster had a few races of no real significance. I don't believe the minimal race history was a factor in the sale price.

Sales like this will probably raise prices of other collectible Porsche models. The pre-auction estimate for this car was $800,000 to $1,000,000.

Funny you should say that. I saw a BJ truck getting gas on Saturday.....maybe checking out the town?
