    Porsche 'Family' Cars . . .

There are several 911s that were specifically made for members of the Porsche family . . .

Here's a thread of threads . . . . to try to collect all of these very special cars

This is a response to a request to post all my available shots from last week of Ferry Porsche's personal '70 911S sunroof Coupe in Metallic Olive Green.

Attached is what I have - I'd say the first two shots of the car probably reflect ( no pun intended ) the truest rendering of the striking and quite unique color due to the absolutely clear sunshine.

    Never Heard This Before . . .

    According to Steve McQueen . . .

. . . There was a Playboy interview with him (one I can actually claim to have read) about the time the movie came out. If I remember correctly, he said the factory presented him with the car during filming when they learned he planned to show a Porsche winning the race. He was extremely proud of the car because it was a "family" car - one pulled off the assembly line and hand built to exacting tolerances as was done for a Porsche board member or member of the Porsche or Piech family when they got cars for their personal use . . .

    . . . from an Olde Threade --- see post #15 . . . .
