And you thought you had a bad day......

I just ran across these pictures from about 5 years ago.
My friend's (who will remain nameless), 100% original paint, owned since new, 31,000 mile 71 911S (aluminum deck lid). The car still sports it's original tires!
Anyway, the car has been Non-Oped for a few years but gets started and backed out of the garage and driven back in. He was sitting in his home with his car safely parked in his garage when his wife of 50 years drives into the driveway in her Lincoln, goes to put on the brakes but doesn't realize she has her foot on the accelerator. The car lurches forward, so she pushes harder on the gas and , you guessed it, she drives right through the garage door and slams into the rear of the 911 and pushes it through the back wall. No, the car is not for sale and he and his wife are doing just fine, thank you. The car eventually got repaired. His attitude was "stuff happens".

    Ciao

Hope the Lincoln was okay............. NOT!

What a tragedy... not sure I would keep my cool under those circumstances... but the car will be ok again, looks like the damage is limited... but then you didn't show us the front end shots...

I'm just happy my car will be stored on a lift in the garage. Its the Cayman that will get the brunt of such an intrusion.

Honestly, it doesn't look bad at all. As long as the frame didn't take any real force it should be an easy fix. My car was about 1/2" shorter on the right and 1/4" shorter on the left from some long ago rear ender. The guy restoring it cut the back off about a foot from the license plate panel (which was also replaced), hammered the bulge out of the left and right frame channels with a wood block inside them, aligned it all on the Celette bench and rewelded it up. That would be an upsetting repair for your friend !

Not when the impact causes the lift to come down.

    Ouch!
Sounds obvious. A certain case of "sudden acceleration condition". Is there a product liability specialist in the membership?

Stuff does happen. Really too bad about the original paint and deck lid though.

Looking on the bright side, now that it's repainted he can drive it more!
