2014 Save the Date - Texas Hill Country Rally

Save The Date - 2014 Hill Country Rally

The 2014 Texas Hill Country Rally will be March 27-30.

We will be in Boerne, TX again this year thanks to the arm twisting of our host hotel and the City of Boerne. And I would be negligent if I did not mention the great back country roads and the friendly law officers who always know where we are, you're welcome Jeff.
Friday evening the town is sponsoring a BBQ and car show in the Town Square and Saturday the City of Boerne and our host Hotel will be sponsoring our Banquet. It must be those LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES.

So block out the dates and come on down for some Texas hospitality and good times with some old Porsches.

It figures the guy in the 912 PASSING the guys in the 911's would get pulled over. Remember, when Jamie tells you where the speed traps are that you listen! I'll be driving to this one again. One of the best events I've ever been to. Already three 912's committed from California and it would be fun to have some 911's join us for the adventure. Getting there is half the fun!

I'll be back after a 2 year break...the dates look like they work for me this year. Plus I am hungry for some of that fine Texas BBQ the kind the Rev Billy F Gibbons sings about.

We welcome all newcomers to the event. I have a feeling this will be bigger and better than last year. Last year was hard to beat. The fact that the town of Boerne (and Chamber of Commerce) is willing to subsidize our event says good things about our group.

Jeff, Sorry that everyone is so bleary eyed at the driver's meeting in the early morning. It's that 2 hour time differential that clouds cognitive thought. And yes, I know where many of the speed traps are - speaking from experience.

Now I have about 6 months to go roadspotting and find some new routes. Don't worry, I still have a secret stash of personal favorites.

Here is an update for those not on the e-mail distribution list.

First, 22 of the rooms are booked, so looks like a good early planning turnout. note - rooms will be released 30 days prior as noted in the update, so make your plans now and don't get hit with the higher room rate by procrastinating.

    Hi Everyone,

It's time for an update from your planning team. We know it's early, but now is a good time to start making your accommodation arrangements for the 2014 rallye weekend.

We are pleased to announce that we have made arrangements with the same host hotel as last year, the Comfort Inn and Suites of Boerne. There is a block of 52 rooms reserved for our group at the special group rate of $95.00 per night. Many of us will be arriving Thursday, March 27th and departing Sunday, March 30th morning. Ask for the block titled "Porsche Hill Country Rallye", and reserve your room today. You'll need to call the hotel directly at the number below rather than reserving on line or through the universal 800 number. Please be aware, if by some chance there are any rooms left by February 27th, the block releases then, 30 days before the event. At that point our rooms are released to the public, and if you book after that date please expect their best posted rate of $129.00 per night. Planning ahead pays!

In addition to the hotel info, here is a little teaser of one of the new things happening in 2014. Friday evening will be a first for us; a wash and shine car show and BBQ at the main plaza in Boerne. There is no "judging" planned and washing the bugs off is optional. We hope everyone enjoys this opportunity to share our cars with the community and each other. We'll be lining the cars up on the grass in the square and hanging out. It's important to mention that all the fees and permits associated with this event have been paid for us by the Boerne visitors bureau, who is thrilled to have us back for another year. Plan to bring a chair and relax.

Finally, one unrelated update. If you are planning to be in Austin for the Vintage Racing National Championship at the Circuit of the Americas the weekend of October 25th - 27th, consider joining an informal gathering of car enthusiasts Friday evening, October 25th. There is a flier attached to this message, feel free to join us if you like. You can follow the event and let folks know you are coming by visiting the event page "Austin Classic Car Night" (https://www.facebook.com/events/1909...081/?ref=br_tf) on Facebook.

That's all for now, but keep an eye out for future updates and information. As always, if you prefer to stop receiving these updates, just respond to this mail with "Remove" in the subject line, and we will take you off the list.

    Best regards to all,

Your 2014 Hill Country Rallye planning team
