Deck lid latch receiver, install before or after paint?

    Hi all-

The painter is asking for the deck lid latch receiver to install before he paints. Problem is I have blasted the latch and disassembled in prep of plating next week.

Can the latch be installed after painting without distortion of crossmember? I remember this was a real PITA to remove...

One more question, was the receiver part of the latch clear or yellow cad plated? I've seen both. The car is a '69E
    Cheers,

    Ron

    Yep clear, with gold hardware.

Don't send your plungers cup for plating, it's alloy.

The receiver installs after paint, with a little wiggling. Have the painter test-fit it before paint. As mentioned, clear with yellow mounting hardware.
The same thing on the upper portion, as noted, the plunger (at bottom of stud) does not get plated. Same yellow hardware. I believe the spring is gold as well. Hope that helps.
