    Front Hood Latch Cable question

I did a dumb thing on my early 911.

My hood release cable has always been very stiff so I got the bright idea to try to fix it.

I started to pull the cable/wire out of the tube and about halfway it got very stiff. I could not push it back in so I pulled it out.

Now I can't get it to go back in. Goes about halfway and stops.

It seems there is a sheath or something inside the tube.

Anyone have any experience with this or any ideas as to how to get it back through the tube??

The cable has a thin coating of plastic on it, and is much smaller than the tube it goes into. If the car has ever been hit in the left front there is a very good chance the body shop never got the tube straight. Look carefully for kinks or sharp corners.

inside the metal tube there is another tube, like a sheath that would be on a clutch cable for example.

Is this normal or has someone added this?

I need to figure out a way to either remove this sheath thing or get the metal cable/wire through it.

I think what has happened to mine is the "thin coating of plastic" has bunched up inside the sheath because when i pulled it out of the tube the plastic did not come with it. Well only about 4" of it came out...

My original hood cable did have a plastic sheath on it. It could be very difficult to get out if it bunched up in the tube. Check the tube inside the front trunk and see if it is kinked anywhere as Ed stated. The only real bend in it is above the battery.
