I have hours of music by the Doors on the ipod in the car and don't think you go past that, especially the live recordings and in particular this one

The downside is that my speed always seems to creep up when it is playing......... but there again "the future is always uncertain and the end is always near"

Apart from the Doors the "car Ipod" has The Clash, Hendrix, The Stones, Joplin, Led Zeppelin, hours of Cold Chisel, Lou Reed, The Velvets, Patti Smith, the Who, and, more for cruising or city traffic, The Band, Etta James, Clapton, Cream, Bob Marley, Springsteen's Nebraska and the live sets, and lots of John Lee Hooker.
Come to think about it almost all of it was around when the car was new

Finally, someone mentioned the best tune ever. It is true that it makes you have a lead foot.
