    68 911s MSD Ignition

Noticed this car is using an MSD ignition, the box mounted on the rear seatback. Should I disconnect it and go back to OEM or some pertronix product. I've had them in domestic applications (mainly from cars that I purchased at auction), but never on imports. The car does take awhile to start with fresh plugs (Bosch platinum w5's)...

I use both in different cars. MSD is good but unsightly. you can use points with it so if the MSD fails you can change back to stock ignition. tach output can be a pain.

in a vintage car the pertronix is nicer because visually it's no different than stock, other than one extra wire. keep a set of points somewhere so you can change back in case of failure.

for faster starts, dump the platinum and go NGK V-Power.

hey. just noticed, another hoser. welcome!

+1 on dumping the platinum plugs. Increase your plug gap when running an MSD.
