    Would anyone know the initial base timing for a 74 euro Carrera?

    Did you look at the timing tag on the blower housing strap? I'm not 100% sure (don't have the spec book here at home) but it's very possible that was the same as U.S. spec since yours is also MFI, and that would have been 5 degrees retarded WITH vacuum line on. As soon as throttle opens it will jump to 5 advanced.

    same engine as the RS so as Ed says 5 degrees retarded with vacuum, 34 degrees at 6000 without vac line. If the 6K timing is right and it ends up close to 5 degrees with the vacum line it should be ok.
