    1972-1973 911S bumper/spoiler undercoating

    Hi,

Does the 72'-73' S spoiler originally have Wurth undercoating on the back of the bumper or is it smooth finish? Just want to duplicate it exactly as the factory. I know the original standard front bumper certainly has undercoating texture on the backside. Let me know and perhaps reply with a pic to see the texture.

They didn't at least on the 2 73 S cars I owned I seem to recall scraping tar off flat surfaces not undercoating as I was preparing for restorations.

Of course neither was owned from new so can't be certain.

I am sure others will chime in to confirm or deny at worst I have bumped your request

    I can confirm....

I picked this S bumper up from a friend a couple of years ago. I believe he bought it new in the later '70's. He did this to help 'federalize' a '73 RS he brought over back then. Buy the time he got around to change the car over, no one cared anymore... So his RS to new S bumper conversion sat until I bought it...

I looks to me like a flat (non-glossy) tar-like undercoating finish......

    Hope this helps
