    Early porsche question

Is there a difference in the width of swb and lwb front bumpers? I am restoring a swb 1968s, and the bumper sits wide of the front wings by just under half an inch, swb dimension diagrams show the bumper overhang narrowing to flush as they wrap round the front of the car. Do I have the wrong bumper ?

    many thanks Rich

How does it attach? If you post a photo of the back of the bumper we can tell you immediately.

    Hi,

I only have a picture of the front at home, it does show the rear fixings for the driving lights does this shed any light on the situation? but no picture of the back. The bumper is attached to restoration design brackets, don't know if that helps in you evaluation...

Rich, don't know about the width but I believe the brackets for securing the front bumper to the frame are different for SWB and LWB cars.

    Front bumpers

I just re-fitted my 68 bumpers and they have similar brackets.

    Thanks Merv,

Appreciate the picture, this looks a lot like mine in shape.

i believe that '68 and '69 front bumpers attach differently. you have a swb bumper that appears to be exactly like my '68 has. i'm not sure what that means in terms of fit, however. (on mine, the original fender was rolled inward from some sort of contact.)
