Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

    Elsie...

I agree, what a great story about nice, solid people and a very pretty car...looks like a very early-73 with the small 915-shift boot as well...Elsie must have been "jumpin' the bits" for the first ones (-73's)....Best of luck with "Elsie" and go take Glenn for a spin.../ Lars...

Edit: Ooops...Freudian slip, I instantly named her "Elsie" instead of "Tornado"...she'd probably be OK with it....

I don't know how "odd" this is... but it's a 4-speed. Glenn said he opted for that over the 5-speed because it had a taller 1st and 2nd gear for autocrossing. Is this still a 915 trans? Is there a certain place I can look to find a build date on the car?

EDIT: Now that I got home, I looked at the tag on the drivers side door jamb.... build was 03/73.

Oh man, what a great story! And so refreshing when enthusiasm wins out over $. Now go out and drive the wheels off it, and enjoy the ride.

Reading a story like that is a wonderful way to wind down the afternoon. That car has lead the charmed life since day 1!

I didn't really want to put her full name out there.... but, yes, she was a wonderful person.
